Choosing a pet sitter for four-legged family members could be considered almost as important as selecting a baby-sitter. A potential client must feel completely comfortable with the person who will enter their residence and care for their beloved pet. Pawz petsitters possess skill, knowledge and compassion to care for your pets. Below are detailed profiles of the pet sitters so you get to know the people that visit your home.

Colleen Amos

As the old saying goes, “everything happens for a reason.” Colleen Amos, president and founder of Pawz Petsitting Services could probably agree with this statement. In 2001, Amos, like many other Americans, Colleen suffered a major job loss. Due to budget cuts, she was laid off from her job as an assistant vice-president with a local bank in Pittsburgh. Although unemployment can be an emotional experience for anyone, especially after 23 years on the job, Amos did not dwell on the negative. Instead, she utilized this time to launch a business called Pawz Petsitting Services. She felt this was a perfect opportunity to combine her professional business experience and her love of animals.

While her business was in the early stages, she spend many hours marketing Pawz Petsitting and also volunteered at the Animal Rescue League as a dog walker and adoption counselor. As the word spread about the great services that Pawz Petsitting offers, Amos’business began to soar and she had secured more than 100 clients in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.

"I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of my clients and staff for making
my business successful. I consider my staff, clients, and their critters a part of
my family. I hope that you continue to give us the opportunity to service your pets. Our staff enjoys giving them the care and love they deserve while you are away or working during the day," said Amos.

Jean Rabatin

When a client gives Jean Rabatin, a PawzPetsitting employee, a house key, she takes this privilege very seriously and will make every effort to please them.

“Establishing a customer’s rapport is very important to me. Giving someone a key to your home is not as easy thing to do. I must show them {the customer} that they can trust me by always being honest,” stated Rabatin.

In addition to tending to a pet’s needs, a petsitter also can provide services such as bringing in mail and watering plants. Rabatin encourages her customers to make a list of all the chores or errands that they wish to have done. This Scott Township resident will then honor all reasonable requests and will always be willing to “go that extra mile.”

“When clients leave me instructions, I do whatever needs to be done. I can bring in mail, categorize it, and clean up dog waste. I do not snoop...under any circumstances. Also, I touch nothing! In other words, I do not disturb any property that does not belong to me,” she said.

Rabatin is not only appreciated by her clients, but the animals also cherish her. She shares a very special bond with the pets that she services. “They {the pets} all know me. They even recognize the motor on my car. I make them happy and they make me happy. This job is so emotionally rewarding. The animals just give so much unconditional love,” said Rabatin.

If you reside in the Greentree, Scott Township, or Mount Lebanon area and would like to request Jean Rabatin as your pet sitter, please contact Colleen Amos at 412-563-1829.
